Chelsea are reportedly considering speaking to Antonio Conte about their vacant managerial role heading into the new season.
The Blues want to appoint a long-term successor after sacking Graham Potter last weekend however have decided to wait until the new season to fill the vacancy full time.
Frank Lampard is set to take charge on an interim basis until the end of the current campaign as the two-time European champions attempt to salvage their Premier League position while also taking on the Champions League.
Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique have been touted as the favourites to land the job at Stamford Bridge but The Independent have reported that Chelsea could ask Conte to make a sensational return to the club.
Todd Boehly has reportedly identified the Italian as a serial winner who could bring structure to a bloated squad.
During his first spell in west London, the former Juventus boss guided Chelsea to the league title in 2017 with his innovative 3-4-3 formation as the Blues dominated the Premier League.
His second season wasn't so successful however as squad disharmony and clashes with the hierarchy led to his departure but was still able to win the FA Cup.
Conte left Tottenham last month after a series of public disputes which culminated in him calling out a number of players, as well as the board, as they surrendered a 3-1 lead to draw 3-3 with bottom of the table Southampton.
