Musonda left Chelsea left month

Former Chelsea and Celtic attacker Charly Musonda has mysteriously gone AWOL at new club Zulte Waregem, according to reports.

The Belgian outfit signed Musonda following his release from Stamford Bridge in June, with the 25-year-old leaving the Blues after an underwhelming 10-year spell.

Musonda, who represented Belgium at youth level, struggled to make an impact in England and spent time out on loan with Real Betis, Celtic and Vitesse before leaving the London club as a free agent.

Musonda ‘disappears’

He was offered a new contract by Zulte Waregem last month after impressing in a training session and trial match, however, the ex-Chelsea flop has now reportedly disappeared after the offer was made.

As reported by The Sun, the Belgian club initially claimed that his absence was due to a family issue and insisted that he would return and sign his deal.

Essevee chefs unsure where Musonda is

However, the Essevee bosses have since revealed that they actually have no idea where the player is.

“When will Charly Musonda return to training? I don’t know,” said chief executive Eddy Cordier.  “Will he ever come back? No idea.

“I don’t know whether we will pull the plug on him because he hasn’t been in since he trained a couple of weeks ago and there has been no contact.

“It’s more important that we concentrate on the group of players who are here at the club for pre-season.”

Musonda made just seven appearances for Chelsea during his time at Stamford Bridge, registering just one goal and two assists for the club.
