There was a good reason for it

No, Lionel Messi isn’t taking the drug from Limitless.

As tempting as it would be to explain away Messi’s almost superhuman ability by attributing it to some magic pill, that’s not what the Barcelona superstar was pictured eating early on during his side’s 3-1 victory over Olympiacos in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

As always seems to be the case, Messi got on the scoresheet as Ernesto Valverde continued his flawless start to the Champions League with Barca.

But fans’ curiosity was piqued early on in the game when Messi reached into his sock, pulled something out and ate it.

And, according to Radio Catalunya, the Argentine was simply taking a glucose tablet which is not unheard of for the Argentine.

Apparently, he often takes glucose tablets in the early stages of matches in order to combat the nausea that he suffers from, as well to energise his muscles for the more gruelling periods of the game ahead.

That wasn’t the only intriguing aspect of the game caught on camera, however.

After Gerard Pique was sent off in the first half, a pair of Barcelona supporters bizarrely celebrated as if their team had just found the net in stunning style.

They bloody love it!!!
