Carlos Tevez is still a thorn in Man United’s side – three years after leaving City

Carlos Tevez became something of a thorn in the side of Manchester United after leaving the club in 2009.

Having arrived at Old Trafford from West Ham two years prior to that, the Argentine's lung-busting work ethic made him an instant hit with supporters at Old Trafford as he played his part in league and European success for the club. With Dimitar Berbatov's arrival limiting his playing time in his second season at the club, Tevez decided it was time to move on. His destination turned out to be Manchester City, who were barely a year into their exciting new Abu Dhabi owned chapter. Tevez, despite the odd self-imposed six month golf holiday, proved to be one of the catalysts in City's rise to the top of English football, staying at the Etihad Stadium for four years before moving to Juventus in Italy. Now back with first club, Boca Juniors, Tevez has once again thwarted United - although this time, he had little say in the matter. According to reports, United were keen to bring Rodrigo Bentancur - a teammate of Tevez at Boca - to Manchester. However, part of the deal taking Tevez to Boca from Juve allows the Italian champions to have first option on any of the Buenos Aires club's youngsters until April of next year. As a result, Boca president Daniel Angelici has confirmed that Bentancur, a 19-year-old Uruguayan midfielder, will join Juventus. “It is already signed. When I was in Switzerland recently Juventus informed me that that they were going to activate the option so I will travel to Turin soon in order to complete the deal,” Angelici told TyC Sports.
