Brendan Rodgers’ son got a run-out for Celtic and only went down a storm

Sign him up!

Brendan Rodgers’ son is not bad at all.

Some eyebrows were raised by supporters when they saw Anton Rodgers boarding a flight with the Celtic squad for the upcoming pre-season tour of Austria and the Czech Republic.

Apparently, the young midfielder was just tagging along to maintain his fitness levels, having been released by Swindon Town this summer.

There didn’t seem to be any suggestion that Rodgers might actually end up signing for the Hoops, as he reportedly just wanted to continue training with the hope that he might convince an English club to snap him up.

And while it might not have been his intention to endear himself to Celtic’s die-hard supporters, he’s only gone and done just that.

Eyebrows were raised even further up the forehead on Wednesday when the 24-year-old was named on the substitute’s bench for Celtic’s pre-season friendly with BW Linz.

Eyebrows simply couldn’t get any closer to fringes when Rodgers was sent on to the pitch for the second half of the game.

And while his appearance was initially treated as something of a joke by supporters, his performance proved to everyone that the boy can play.

Celtic fans just couldn’t get enough of the lad.
