The internet reacts to Brendan Rodgers talking football tactics on Sky Sports Monday Night Football

Joe Allen, character and "Louis"

JOE

Sometimes, you got the feeling that Brendan Rodgers got into football management purely for the press conferences.

He loved nothing more than to spout his buzzwords in front of the cameras and to dissect the game as articulately and as repetitively as he could.

The old management took a turn for the worse but imagine a job where you could talk all the bullsh*t of the day that you so pleased and not have to do anything else.

Step forward, Monday Night Football.

A place so welcoming that it would make you think that even Gary Neville could cut it in management.

Well, Brendan Rodgers was on board for the Swansea and Watford match and, whilst it was a gripping watch as usual, the character lent itself to an internet sh*t-storm. (Pun fully intended)

The initial announcement didn’t get viewers too enthused.

It did get them prophesising though.

And, of course, the Arsenal characters (oh) were out in force.

Brendan kept it in check though.

But the broken record quickly tried to spin again.

Some people just gave him no chance.

Others were confused.

Some just got fed up listening.

It was predictable after all.

Who doesn’t love a bit of irony?

Twitter just has a lot of angry people in general.

But the Northern Irish man had plenty of backers after his performance.

Try telling this guy though.
