Breitbart apologise for using picture of Lukas Podolski in migrant article

'There is no evidence Mr. Podolski is either a migrant gang member, nor being human trafficked'

Breitbart has apologised after mistakenly using a picture of former Arsenal striker, Lukas Podolski, in one of their articles.

Podolski, part of Germany’s World Cup-winning squad in 2014, was pictured riding on a jet-ski in an article which appeared on Breitbart London with the headline ‘Spanish Police Crack Gang Moving Migrants On Jet-Skis’.

Although the error was swiftly rectified, plenty were quick to pick up on the mistake after it was tweeted.

An editor’s note was later added to the article in which Breitbart apologised to Podolski, who recently signed for Japanese club, Vissel Kobe.

‘A previous version of this story included an image of Lukas Podolski on a jet ski,’ the editor’s note reads.

‘This image appeared as an illustration of a person on a jet ski. Breitbart London wishes to apologise to Mr. Podolski.

‘There is no evidence Mr. Podolski is either a migrant gang member, nor being human trafficked. We wish Mr. Podolski well in his recently announced international retirement.’
