Barcelona sell naming rights to Camp Nou in Spotify sponsorship deal

Barcelona are set to sell the naming rights of the Camp Nou which will see the prestigious stadium renamed as the Spotify Camp Nou as part of a new sponsorship deal. As per Marca, Barça are set to announce a €280m sponsorship deal with Spotify which will also see the popular music streaming service feature on the men's and women's teams' shirts from next season. https://twitter.com/FootballJOE/status/1491090289133760512 The deal is set to last for three years and will replace the Catalan club's current sponsors Rakuten and Beko, whose deal is set to expire at the end of the season. Their current deal with Rakuten earns them around €55m per year - with the Spotify deal set to help significantly improve the club's financial woes. Barcelona have yet to comment on the announcement, which is expected next week, however not everyone at the club is fully on board with the deal. Barça's chief executive Ferran Reverter recently resigned from his position just seven months into the role. The club claimed it was down to "personal reasons" but as per The Guardian, Reverter is said to have had multiple disagreements with president Joan Laporta. Reverter was the main negotiator when it came to finding the club a primary and secondary sponsorship and held talks with several cryptocurrency firms only to receive opposition from people inside the club. Spotify themselves have also come under fire in recent weeks after singer Neil Young demanded for all of his songs to be taken off the platform due to the presence of Joe Rogan who has been accused by Young, among others, of spreading misinformation.
