Barcelona plot ambitious move for Jesse Lingard as they seek Neymar replacement
A devastating blow for United fans

Barcelona will use any money raised from the sale of Neymar to help fund an ambitious move for Manchester United's Jesse Lingard.

Having long since coveted Lingard after seeing him in action during loan spells at Derby County and Brighton, it is believed the Spanish giants have encouraged Paris Saint-Germain to meet Neymar's £200m buy-out clause so that a move for the Warrington-born midfielder will become financially viable.

Replacing Neymar with Lingard will undoubtedly improve Ernesto Valverde's squad ahead of the new season, but one potential stumbling block for such a deal could be Lionel Messi.

With Neymar's desire to leave Barcelona partly motivated by a feeling that he is not as appreciated as Messi, it is also believed that the Argentine is concerned that a potential move for Lingard may see him lose his 'golden boy' status with Barca's board and supporters.

News of a seemingly-imminent Barcelona bid will come as a crushing blow to United supporters, who have enjoyed Lingard's rise from the youth ranks to the first team and his creativity and dedication to forming unnecessarily elaborate goal celebrations and painstakingly choreographed handshakes with Paul Pogba.

Although entirely fabricated, it is thought that this report of such a move will prompt incredibly angry tweets and facebook comments from people not bothering to read more than the headline.
