Australia will be missing some stars ahead of their Pool A decider with Wales

Kevin Beirne

Wales have had some pretty bad luck with injuries so far in this World Cup, but they’ve finally gotten some massively overdue good news.

Australia could be without three first choice players for the Pool A decider on Saturday.

World Rugby has announced that openside flanker Michael Hooper has received a one-week ban for his shoulder charge on England fullback Mike Brown after being cited on Monday.

On top of that, Wallaby fullback Israel Folau – arguably the most exciting player in world rugby right now – is a serious doubt for the game with an ankle injury. Meanwhile, winger Rob Horne also looks set to miss out after being stretchered off in the opening minutes against England.

Warren Gatland’s men have also received their own injury boost, with centre Scott Williams looking likely to be fit for Saturday’s game.
