Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira is already talking about which other club he’d love to play for

Steady on, Lucas. You’ve only just arrived, for crying out loud…

There’s a feeling amongst Arsenal supporters that there’s a lot to come from Lucas Torreira.

The Urugyayan international, a £26m summer signing from Sampdoria, has quickly made a big impression on many of the club’s supporters in his short time in north London.

Aged 22, it’s expected Torreira will remain an Arsenal player for many years to come. This said, he already appears to have an eye on the future, having revealed the club he one day dreams of playing for.

Speaking on Las Voces del Fútbol radio programme, the midfielder said that he hoped to play for Boca Juniors at some point in his career.

“At some point I would like to play in Boca,” he said. “I hope I can achieve that dream I have.”

Torreira has been playing in Europe since leaving Montevideo for Pescara in Italy in 2013. He later signed for Sampdoria two years later but was loaned back to Pescara for a further season.

Torreira made his first start for Arsenal during their Europa League opener against Vorskla Poltava at The Emirates Stadium on Thursday night – a game the home side won, 4-2.

Argentina’s Boca Juniors are arguably the biggest club in South America and have recently been the subject of a new Netflix documentary series, Boca Juniors Confidential.
