Arsenal fans are far from impressed with one of their first team stars, following a poor showing in the club's Emirates Cup final clash with Borussia Dortmund on Sunday.
The Gunners fell behind 2-0 early on to their opponents during a dire first half, and although Ethan Nwaneri, subbed on for captain Martin Odeggard after just 30 minutes, managed to bring things back to 2-1, the Gunners again fell behind by a two goal margin to 3-1, later in the second period of their pre-season game.
Viktor Gyokeres scored a penalty later on for Mikel Arteta's side, but this was not enough to avoid an embarrassing defeat, just two weeks out from the start of the 2026/27 Premier League season, and seven days from the club's Community Shield clash with Manchester City.
Defeat to Dortmund was not Arsenal's only setback over the past seven days, with the club facing disappointment in their pursuit of Real Madrid' Brazilian superstar Vinicius Junior, meaning that as it stands, the club's only attacking acquisition is Christian Tzolis from Club Brugge.
Following on from that news, Gunners fans have begun to vent frustration with one attacker who is at the club, Swedish centre-forward Viktor Gyokeres.
Despite chipping in with a penalty, the former Sporting CP man failed to impress overall, missing a free first half free kick, by some distance while also failing to link up with his teammates with enough fluency to create chances.
The performance has prompted some fans to call on Arteta to sell the player, with one supporter taking to X to say as much: "Please sell Gyokeres man. I can't do this for another season."
Another added: "Julian Alvarez come and save us," referencing reports that the Gunners are planning on swapping the two strikers.
With just two weeks until the start of the start of the new campaign, it remains to be seen if Arteta heeds the warning from his fans, or pushed ahead with Gyokeres.
