Arda Turan is facing four charges and could reportedly serve over a decade of jail time

Arda Turan is facing up to 12 years in prison in Turkey for his involvement in events which followed a night club altercation in Istanbul last October, reports have claimed.

According to Marca, the Barcelona midfielder, currently on loan at Basaksehir, is accused of sexual harassment, inflicting intentional injuries, shooting a firearm in a way to cause panic and carrying weapons without a license.

Turkish press report that the argument in the nightclub began when the former Atletico Madrid star approached Ozlem Ada, the wife of singer, Berkay Sahin.

“You’re very pretty, if you weren’t married I wouldn’t let you get away,” Sahin alleges Turan said, something which he took exception to.

Following a confrontation with the footballer, Sahin was left with a broken nose and went to hospital for treatment. While there, Turan unexpectedly turned up, offering Sahin a gun as an apology and telling the singer “shoot me if you want”.

Needless to say, Sahin declined the offer to shoot the footballer, who, after a conversation, responded by firing the weapon at the floor, sparking panic in the hospital.

Sahin could also face jail time of up to two years. He’s accused of insulting Turan, who was fined by Basaksehir last October for “behaviour and attitude not compatible with the club’s ethics”. He remains on loan at the club, at least until sentencing.
