It would be a great signing for Spurs

Antonio Conte has reportedly informed Tottenham Hotspur of his first transfer target as their new manager.

The former Chelsea boss was unveiled as Spurs’ new manager on Tuesday (2 November) after reaching an agreement on an 18-month contract worth up to £15 million per season.

His appointment follows the sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo on Monday – which came less than 48 hours after the club’s 3-0 loss at home to Manchester United.

Nuno was in charge for just 17 matches in all competitions, but recent form has seen the London outfit register five defeats in their last seven Premier League games.

Conte has got straight to work, reportedly sleeping at the training ground overnight, and has told the club who he wants to sign in January. According to reports in Italy, the 52-year-old is keen on signing sought-after Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahović.

It is believed that Conte has been given assurances by Spurs that he will be able to strengthen in the January transfer market, with the Serbian frontman emerging as one of the main targets, as per Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 21-year-old has been in scintillating form this season, scoring 10 goals and registering one assist in 12 appearances for the Italian side.

Vlahović also enjoyed a superb campaign last season and cemented his place as one of Serie A’s leading strikers for Fiorentina, grabbing 21 goals and two assists in 40 games – including a spectacular first-half hat-trick against Benevento in March.

Spurs could also benefit from the striker’s current contract situation, with Fiorentina confirming that the youngster would not be signing an extension to his current contract which expires in 2023.

The two-time Italian champions are understood to be holding out for a fee in the region of €70 million (£59.5m) for the Serbia international, who has scored six goals in 12 appearances for his national side.
