Anthony Joshua could fight another American amid ‘radio silence’ from Wilder

Matchroom boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has said that Anthony Joshua could fight American Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller if he can’t secure a bout with Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder or Dillian Whyte

The undefeated American is currently ranked as the #2 heavyweight by the WBA and #4 by the WBO, and has some prior history with Joshua as the two had to be separated last year at a press conference in New York.

Wilder and Fury look set to engage in a rematch of their classic fight from December while Whyte has called for a fight with Joshua on multiple occasions with the Olympic gold medalist still weighing up his options for an expected fight at Wembley Stadium in London on April 13.

Hearn has said that Joshua may fight Miller if bouts with Whyte, Fury or Wilder cannot be arranged.

“I think you’ll get a decision next week,” Hearn told DAZN. “For me, if he can’t get Wilder, Fury, or Dillian, he must come to American and Jarrell would be at the front of that queue.

“There is radio silence from Wilder, Fury we’re talking to and Whyte we’re talking to.”

He continued: “He [Whyte] has got his price tag, Anthony’s got the price tag he wants to pay. It’s a voluntary shot for Dillian Whyte, and part of me would love to see Anthony Joshua come to the states.

“’Big Baby’ Miller is creeping into the top five right now. He’s making some noise in America and to be a global star at some time, you have to fight in America.

“And to see Anthony Joshua fill up Madison Square Garden, with 21-22,000, that is a real statement of intent for a heavyweight world champion, for a Brit especially, so we’ll see what happens.”

Hearn told Sky Sports earlier this week that he has sent six unanswered emails to Wilder and his camp, however, there is ongoing dialogue with Fury and his team.

“I think right now, there’s more chance of fighting Tyson Fury,” he said. “There’s a man that knows he can have this fight, if he wants it. I’ve spoken to him. He knows if he wants to fight Joshua, it can happen April 13.”
