Angry Liverpool fans have had enough after FA Cup shambles, and plan a mass protest this week

This weekend was the final straw.

They’re not happy.

Things have taken a very dark turn at Anfield this month. Liverpool have gone from the team looking most likely to challenge the mighty Manchester City (and indeed beat them a couple of weeks ago), to a shambolic disjointed shadow of themselves. A very impressive 18-game unbeaten run now feels like a distant memory after sorry defeats to the two worst teams in the country’s top flight.

First came the listless 1-0 loss at Swansea in the Premier League, and that was followed this weekend with a disastrous 3-2 surrender to West Brom at Anfield in the FA Cup. Another chance at silverware gone. Such is the current sense of anger and disappointment around the club that one fan even rang up BBC Radio 5’s 6-0-6 and demanded that Jurgen Klopp be sacked…

But most fans seem to agree that the enigmatic German is the right man to take the club forward. Serious questions remain about his ability to coach his defence into working as a cohesive unit in such an attacking side, but Klopp remains a popular figure amongst the Anfield faithful. Their ire seems more acutely directed towards the club’s owners – Fenway Sports Group.

A dip in form has been attributed to the fact the Philippe Coutinho was allowed to leave for Barcelona for a fortune this month – with no signs of a replacement to atone for his creative loss. Many are also crying out for the top quality goalkeeper that Klopp’s side are missing, but again, there’s no movement there.

All in all, the supporters are not happy with FSG’s management of the club – or at least large sections are not – and so they’re taking affirmative action, by way of a protest this week. A mass gathering is being arranged at 6pm on Tuesday of this week, outside the official club store, to protest the ownership and their management. Perhaps it will jolt them into action, with just days of the transfer window remaining.
