PSG launch mega offer for out-of-contract Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera

A three-year deal is said to be on the table for the 29-year-old

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revitalised Ander Herrera’s Manchester United career in recent months but the Spanish midfielder is reportedly ready to leave Old Trafford for Paris Saint-Germain.

Herrera signed from Athletic Club in 2014 but has only enjoyed top form in patches, with a recent spell at the heart of new boss Solskjaer’s midfield arguably producing his best showings.

Such form has prompted United to advance talks over a new contract for the 29-year-old, whose current deal is up at the end of the season. And yet, both The Sun and MARCA report on a serious spanner being thrown into the works.

Despite decent progress being made between the Red Devils and their player, PSG have emerged with a mega offer worth £150,000 per week on a three-year deal. This reportedly trumps United’s proposal considerably with the Ligue 1 outfit able to up their offer because there won’t be a transfer fee.

PSG have been desperate for a centre-midfielder for ages, as if signing Lassana Diarra wasn’t already a cry for help. Everton tough tackler Idrissa Gueye was subject to a failed bid in January and coach Thomas Tuchel has taken to shoehorning in defenders Dani Alves and Juan Bernat into the middle of the park since.

For United, losing Herrera would be a blow as Solskjaer will have to put together some sort of title bid next season and the Spaniard’s exit would leave the club to build a midfield from Andreas Pereira, Fred, Juan Mata, Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba.
