Amir Khan to earn ten times more from I’m a Celeb than some of his campmates

Still a hell of a lot less than he made in his last fight

Amir Khan will be one of the bigger earners in the jungle.

I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! returned to our screens on Sunday night and the first sight of Khan resulted in him telling Ant and Dec that he’d never seen the reality TV show before.

And while he might be oblivious as to what he can expect over the next three weeks, he will be rewarded handsomely for his time on the show.

The former unified light-welterweight world champion is definitely one of the bigger names in the camp this year and, as such, he is set to take home ten times as much money as some of the lesser known celebrities.

“There’s a very wide range of payments on the show, and every year some of the top names bag themselves around £250,000,” a series insider told the Sun.

“This year Amir and Stanley are probably the biggest names, along with Jennie off Coronation Street. But the pay scale slides all the way down to about a tenth of that.

“The least known stars tend to get somewhere around the £25,000 mark.”

Khan is accustomed to multi-million dollar paydays from the sport of boxing and is understood to have earned a career-high $9 million for his last bout, a brutal knockout defeat to Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in 2016.

The 30-year-old recently insisted that he intends to return to the ring and remained adamant that his time on I’m a Celeb should not be perceived as an early retirement.

“I’m still a boxer, I’m training but there’s no fights on,” Khan said, via the Mirror.

“So I thought, ‘I’ve got time to do this show, so why not?’

“I’m only going to be away from training and home a few weeks. I’ll use it as a detox at the same time.”
