This would’ve been an absolute nightmare
Alexis Sanchez almost suffered an injury just hours after joining his new club Marseille, despite being nowhere near a football pitch.
The former Manchester United and Arsenal man signed for the Ligue 1 club on a free transfer after Inter Milan terminated his contract by mutual consent.
The Chilean attacker, who had one year remaining on his deal at the San Siro, made 39 appearances last season, registering nine goals and five assists. However, he only made seven starts in Serie A.
Marseille announced on Tuesday that they had reached an agreement in principle to sign Sanchez, subject to him passing a medical.

However, the 33-year-old *almost* put his move move in jeopardy after narrowly avoiding an injury during his unveiling as a Marseille player.
Sanchez – wearing the club’s kit – ran out onto a street in Marseille to greet hundreds of supporters who were all desperate to catch a glimpse of the Chile international.
But disaster almost struck when Sanchez appeared to slip, which prompted security staff to help him regain his footing.
Thankfully, the new Marseille star appeared to be okay after his close-shave as he continued to greet the club’s fans.

Sanchez was sold to Inter Milan in 2020 after spending one season on loan at the Italian side, going on to help the club win the Serie A title in the 2020/21 campaign.
He also picked up a Coppa Italia winners’ medal last season but struggled for game time under current manager Simone Inzaghi.
The Chilean joins a Marseille side who finished second in Ligue 1 last season, 15 points behind bitter rivals Paris Saint-Germain.
