Alex Iwobi has signed a new long term contract with Arsenal. The 22-2year-old has been at the club since he was nine years old and came through their academy system before making his senior debut in 2015.

He has made 98 appearances for Arsenal in three years, scoring nine goals.

After signing his new long term deal, he said:

“It’s always been my dream to represent Arsenal, from young. To get an extended contract is an amazing feeling and I hope I’m doing the Arsenal family proud as well as my family.”

“It feels so special, the first kit I had was Arsenal and long may I continue to represent them.”

The Nigeria international should have a substantial role to play this season, given Arsenal’s lack of natural wingers. Unai Emery clearly believes in Iwobi’s talent and Arsenal fans will be hoping that their new coach can bring the player up a level and facilitate the next stage of his development.
