Alex Ferguson may have met with the next Manchester United manager for lunch

Louis van Gaal may be confident in his belief that he will still be Manchester United manager, but we have our doubts. Jose Mourinho's is still hanging around in the shadows, but he may have competition for the role if it does become vacant. Alex Ferguson is still the key power broker at the club as everyone suspects, and this afternoon he was spotted emerging from a lunch with a Premier League boss who most Manchester United fans would surely welcome at Old Trafford. Pictures emerged this afternoon of Ferguson meeting with Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino and his assistant Jesus Perez before the West Ham-Manchester United game in London. Tottenham confirmed this evening that they knew the two men were meeting, and it is understood both had become met previously at a league manager's dinner some weeks back.
