A very reasonable price in today’s market

Ajax have set a very reasonable asking price fo €35m (£31.2m) for highly rated winger Hakim Ziyech, according to dutch paper Telegraaf, with Europe’s big guns circling like vultures around one of the brightest young talents in the world.

There have been murmurs about Ziyech’s potential for a while, but Ajax’s run to the semi-finals of the Champions League this season helped the Morocco international establish himself as one of most exciting players in Europe.

You may remember his excellent goal against Spurs in the second leg of the semi-final, but his most notable contribution came in the form of this ridiculously satisfying cross-field pass.

Look at how straight it goes. Look at Tagliafico’s touch. Look. That’s worth half the fee alone.

Ziyech is reported to prefer a move to a team with a positive style of play, with Arsenal one of the teams interested in signing him. The gunners need a winger and at £31m, he is a much cheaper option than Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha, who would cost at least double that.

Ajax are considering offering Ziyech an improved contract, with no need to make any big attacking signings this summer.
