After missing out on John Terry, Harry Redknapp could sign a different Premier League legend

Harry Redknapp missed out on a Premier League legend but has admitted that he wouldn’t be against signing another.

After top target John Terry opted for a move to Birmingham City’s arch-rivals Aston Villa this week, Redknapp saw the silver lining in the defender’s decision and suggested that he might be better off spending the money that would have gone on Terry’s lofty wages by spreading it out among several other signings.

Well we can’t imagine that Robbie Keane’s wage demands are exactly low but Redknapp has suggested that he is interested in bringing the striker with whom he worked at Tottenham Hotspur to St. Andrew’s.

Keane has been without a club since parting ways with LA Galaxy last year but he has yet to officially retire and could be set for a reunion with Redknapp.

The Blues boss has insisted that no contact has been made with the former Ireland international but that’s not to say that he wouldn’t be open to the idea of signing one of the Premier League’s most prolific goalscorers.

Keane has 126 Premier League goals to his name and his guaranteed goals would give Birmingham a significant boost in their promotion quest next season.

“Robbie is a player you would love to have around your football club,” Redknapp told the Mirror.

“He is just a fantastic professional footballer, a great trainer, enthusiastic person, an absolutely buzzy character.

“We haven’t spoken to Robbie but I wouldn’t want to be a liar and say I’m not interested in him and then two weeks later bring him in.

“Any football club with Robbie Keane in is a better football club.

“He can bring an awful lot to any club. At the moment I haven’t done anything but it’s not an impossibility.”
