Adidas launch new David Beckham-inspired Predator Accelerator boot

Beckham helped designed the new versions of adidas' iconic boot

David Beckham was once the most famous man to wear a pair of Predators.

Now, years on from his retirement, the former England captain has helped design new versions of adidas’ iconic football boot.

Three new sets of the accelerator have been launched as part of the sportswear giant’s new Capsule range – including two trainer-like shoes for the ‘cage’ and the ‘street’ – with Beckham having plenty of input in their design.

Coming in red, white and black – colours chosen by Beckham – the boots no longer have their trademark tongue, which has been replaced by a more modern sock design.

Each version of the boot features shirt numbers worn by Beckham during his illustrious career. The 23 on the white ‘Stadium’ boot, 32 on the black ‘Street’ shoe and the number 7 he famously wore for Manchester United and England is visible on the on the red ‘Cage’ shoe.

“When I look back on the best moments of my career, the one defining theme of them all is the adidas Predator,” Beckham said.

“It has always been there, helping me play my best when it mattered most. That’s why when adidas offered me the chance to design an updated version of the boot for on-pitch, in the cage and on the street, I absolutely jumped at the chance.”

All versions of the boot will be available on adidas’ website from Tuesday October 31.
