Achraf Hakimi to face criminal trial for alleged rape after having appeal rejected

The Morocco captain's appeal was rejected by the French Supreme Court on Wednesday.

According to a report from French outlet L'Equipe, the trial is set to go ahead.

In a post on X, the renowned French sports outlet announced the news, writing: "The Supreme Court has refused to hear the appeal filed by Achraf Hakimi, paving the way for a trial before the Hauts-de-Seine departmental criminal court."

The decision to reject Hakimi's appeal took place at the highest possible level in the French legal system, so as there is no further prospect of appeal, the case is now essentially certain to go to court.

Achraf Hakimi has always denied the allegation.
