Ramsdale is expected to replace Dean Henderson in goal

Bournemouth have accepted an £18 million bid from Sheffield United for goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, according to Sky Sports, though personal terms are yet to be agreed.

Should he agree terms, Ramsdale will return to Bramall Lane more than three years after leaving for Bournemouth for a fee which is believed to have been £1 million.

The deal represents an enormous profit for Bournemouth, and for the Blades, a proven Premier League replacement for Dean Henderson, who isn’t expected to return on loan from Manchester United for the coming season.

Ramsdale made 37 Premier League appearances for Bournemouth in 2019/20 and while he couldn’t prevent their relegation, he impressed many with his performances.

His move represents an opportunity for Mark Travers, the Cherries’ 21-year-old Republic of Ireland goalkeeper, to make the number one shirt his own ahead of their return to the Championship.

Following their relegation from the top flight, long-serving manager Eddie Howe departed the Vitality Stadium. He was replaced a week later by his former assistant Jason Tindall.
