5-Word Transfers: Wilshere, Henderson, Pedro, Begovic, Icardi

Matt Stanger

City want Wilshere and Hendo

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City have stuck Jack Wilshere and Jordan Henderson at the top of their summer shortlist as they look to forget a frustrating season.

The Mail report that City want more English talent – with Raheem Sterling also being monitored – as they prepare for Frank Lampard’s departure and James Milner’s potential exit on a free transfer.

It’s thought Wilshere’s injury record is a concern, but there’s hope over a deal for Henderson, who only has one year left on his Liverpool contract.

Liverpool chase Pedro

Brendan Rodgers is keeping tabs on Barcelona forward Pedro as a possible replacement for Raheem Sterling should the 20-year-old leave Anfield in the summer.

The Daily Mail claim the Spain international will be allowed to leave the Nou Camp after losing his place to Neymar and Luis Suarez, with Internazionale and Bayern Munich also in the hunt for his signature.

And Reds also want Begovic

As well as a replacement for Sterling, The Sun report that a new number one is high on Liverpool’s wish list.

Simon Mignolet’s form has improved since he was dropped earlier in the season, but it’s thought Rodgers has made up his mind to bring in a new keeper – with Stoke’s Asmir Begovic fitting the mould.

The Bosnian would cost around £15m, while Sporting Lisbon stopper Rui Patricio is being considered as an alternative.
