Vegans explain why they think eating meat is destroying the planet
Is meat production destroying the earth?
The World Resources Institute estimate that the Western world needs to cut its meat intake by at least 22% by 2050, in order to save the planet.
At the recent Climate Strike, JOE spoke to a number of vegans and animal rights activists, each of whom are of the belief that eating meat is destroying the planet, from methane emissions damaging the ozone layer to the deforestation of woodlands and rainforests for cow grazing.
One speaker viewed things very simply: "It's a no-brainer, you're going to eat three times a day for the rest of your life, why not just choose the vegan option rather than the meat option?"
