Trump ‘could be removed from White House’ if he makes ‘unpredictable’ move

President Trump has been in office less than 100 days.

The challenge to the 78-year-old's presidency could come from an unlikely source, that is according to Sky News pundit Adam Boulton.

The political expert suggested that President Trump could be his own worst enemy.

Boulton has said that the major shifts in policy caused by the Trump administration could unsettle even his most loyal backers, particularly if the US finds itself in a difficult position due to these shifts.

President Trump has been in office less than 100 days and has issued several executive orders, including dissolving the Department of Education.

Additionally, Trump and Elon Musk have overseen huge implications on international trade due to threats of tariffs on allies such as Canada and the EU.

Moreover, the Trump administration renamed the Gulf of Mexico, temporarily suspended aid to Ukraine , and deported numerous supposed Venezuelans to El Salvador.

President Trump's unpredictability may strain Trump's ties with his backers, suggests Boulton.

He has said that as a response, they may look to Vice President, JD Vance, to take over from the two time President.

Boulton wrote in The i: "Should Trump become more of a unpredictable liability - tanking the economy with tariffs, say or pushing America into an armed confrontation with an ally - then Republicans, including cabinet members, may decide that his comparatively squeaky-clean family-oriented VP is a better bet to keep them in power."

There are a number of mechanisms to remove a sitting President from office, the most common being impeachment, which President Trump defeated twice in his first term.

Another way would be for a majority of Donald Trump's cabinet to avail of the 25th Amendment and declare the President 'unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office'.

President Trump would have a right to respond, and then Congress would step in.

A two-thirds vote in both the House and Senate would result in the permanent removal of the President from office.
