The hero we deserve, but not the one we need right now
On Friday morning, Theresa May announced
she was *finally* resigning as Prime Minister and head of the Conservative Party, intending to step down on June 7th.
As the news got out that May was meeting with 1922 Committee chairman Sir Graham Brady, thousands eagerly tuned into news channels, awaiting her statement and the inevitable.
Just before 10am, the now-iconic sight of the podium being brought out in front of 10 Downing Street. The podium was set up by a young man in a black shirt. As he tested out the sound, he stood in front of the podium.
