A YouTuber has been killed in Thailand after he was struck by a train while filming a video.
Wirot Arayankeht, 53, had been filming near to the Chulalongkorn bridge in Ratchaburi for his YouTube channel ‘Go Anywhere Without Petrol’ when he was struck by a passing train.
The YouTuber was crushed and killed by the train at around 8:20am according to Phusanika Chantharat, a police inspector at the Ratchaburi Muang police station.
The driver of the train said he "honked" to warn Arayankeht he was approaching, but was unable to stop.
The content creator's body was dragged by the train for 50 metres, The Nation Thailand reports, and his filming equipment was scattered across the scene.
Arayankeht filmed content for his video channel, where he promoted cycling. CCTV footage of his accident shows him placing his bike on the train tracks at around 7:40am.
His wife said they had dropped their daughter off at school that morning. Arayankeht had mentioned he planned to her that he was planning to film a video for social media before returning home, The Bangkok Post reported.
Police found a video on the content creator's phone showing him speaking to the camera near the railway tracks.
The train driver told police he saw Wirote sitting on the tracks and filming his video.
The driver said he exited the train and found Wirote crushed to death. He promptly called his supervisor and the local police.
Condolences started pouring in on Arayankeht's Facebook page, which has 2,700 followers, as soon as the news of the YouTuber's death was made public. “I would like to express my condolences, brother,” one user said.
