Wrestling legend Jay Briscoe dies aged 38 in car crash

Stars from across the world of wrestling have been paying tribute to Briscoe

Wrestling star Jay Briscoe has died in a car crash at the age of 38. The Ring of Honor (ROH) legend was one half of pioneering tag team the Briscoe Brothers with his sibling Mark. Together, the pair were the current ROH World Tag Team Champions. Jay, real name Jamin Pugh, was involved in a car crash in Laurel, Delaware, at around 17:30 EST on Tuesday.

According to an emergency log obtained by the wrestling outlet Ringside News, a woman in another vehicle died at the scene of the accident, and it was "believed that Jay Briscoe’s daughter was also in the wreck."

"Known to fans as Jay Briscoe, he was a star in ROH for over 20 years, from the first show until today. "Jay and his brother Mark dominated ROH, reigning as champions to this day. We’ll do whatever we can to support his family. Briscoe joined ROH in 2002, forming a tag team with his brother and going onto to become one of the greatest duos in wrestling history.
