Woman who claims to be Madeleine McCann takes DNA test

The woman claiming to be Madeleine McCann has submitted DNA samples for forensic analysis to try and prove she is the missing Brit.

Julia Wendell, 21, is currently in California, US, having been whisked from her home country after receiving death threats, the Star reports.

Wendell went viral last month after sharing what she claimed is “evidence” on Instagram that she is the girl who went missing in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in 2007. The evidence included two freckles on her leg and an eye defect.

The 21-year-old, who would be two years older than Maddie who would turn 19 in April, has said she does not remember large chunks of her childhood, or the moment she was supposedly taken, but does remember overhearing her mum say she “took her”.

She also claimed she was abused by a German paedophile who looks like someone who was once a suspect in Maddie’s disappearance and now has Dr Fia Johansson, a medium who helps police crack cold cases, investigating her story and representing her.

Johannson is with her at the safehouse in California.

Speaking to RadarOnline, Dr Johansson said Julia has sent off three DNA samples for forensic analysis along with a genetic test to establish her ancestry.

“If the results come back that she’s British or from that area then we are going to continue our investigation into Madeleine McCann and communicate with the detectives in Portugal,” Dr Johansson told the publication.

“We have a lot of evidence right now that shows Julia was definitely trafficked to Poland.”

Her family are refusing to take DNA tests of their own. They have denied her claims, and have apparently blocked Wendell’s number.
