Will Smith is being sued by male tour violinist Brian King Joseph for sexual harassment, retaliation wrongful termination, according to a new complaint.
The Men in Black actor has been accused of “predatory behaviour” and having “deliberately groomed and primed” the violinist for “further sexual exploitation”.
Smith has denied all the allegations.
Joseph first performed alongside Smith at a concert in December 2024. The suit claims he was asked to join Smith on his 2025 tour and play on his album, with the actor allegedly saying to Joseph that “you and I have a special connection”.
Joseph allegedly returned to his hotel room after joining the first leg of Smith's tour in March 2025 to find the room had "unlawfully" been entered, and left some wipes, a bottle of HIV medication with a different individual's name on and a hanrdwritten note.
“Brian, I’ll be back no later [sic] 5:30, just us (drawn heart), Stone F,” the complaint claims the note read.
Joseph claims he felt this note was a warning that “an unknown individual would soon return to his room to engage in sexual acts”.
The musician informed security at the hotel, non-emergency police and Smith's management team.
However, Joseph claims he was "shamed" by a member of Smith's management, and was fired and told he was making it up/
The complaint says Smith “was deliberately grooming and priming Mr Joseph for further sexual exploitation.
“The sequence of events, Smith’s prior statements to Plaintiff, and the circumstances of the hotel intrusion all point to a pattern of predatory behavior rather than an isolated incident,” it says.
The suit claims Joseph suffered from PTSD and other mental illnesses, and that his termination caused “severe emotional distress, economic loss, reputational harm, and other damages”.
Smith's lawyer, Allen B. Grodsky, told the Daily Mail the allegations are “false, baseless and reckless”.
“They are categorically denied, and we will use all legal means available to address these claims and to ensure that the truth is brought to light.”
