MP delivers an absolute mic drop to Sammy Wilson of the DUP

This is a nice little bit of savagery to liven up your day

Throughout the Brexit process, DUP MP Sammy Wilson has had a few sharp comments for Leo Varadkar and the Irish government, but today Wilson was on the receiving end of a hard jab.

On Wednesday morning, Wilson was asked to give his testimony to a parliamentary committee on Northern Ireland — which has been without a devolved government for over two years now — and the problems it will face in the result of a no deal Brexit.

Independent MP Sylvia Hermon was given her chance to question the DUP man, and she wasted no time in taking a shot at him, saying “Thank you so much for coming here to give us your… I was going to say words of wisdom, but, your evidence.”

Hermon was formerly a member of the UUP.

Wilson went on to tell the committee that a time-limit on the backstop proposal would be acceptable to the DUP as it would “effectively remove the backstop.”

This is the line of argument that European Union has used for refusing to add a time-limit, as a backstop is necessary to prevent a hard border across Ireland.
