Paul Gascoigne reveals he ‘passed away’ briefly during rehab

Tony Cuddihy

Former footballer Paul Gascoigne has given an emotional interview on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday morning.

Speaking about a spell in rehab in 2013, Gazza revealed how close he had come to dying from his addiction to alcohol.

“People forget that I’ve been there (in rehab) for Red Bull, I’ve been there for Calpol – I’ve been there for no reason sometimes, you know,” he told Good Morning Britain.

“I’ve only really been in rehab really seriously three times for the drink side of it you know.”

“The last time I was there for drink was about three years ago, when I passed away apparently – I thought that would be enough, you know.”

He also told hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid about the lies that have come out about him, and about how a recent slip ended up in the newspapers.
