Blu-ray and collectibles fans hit with major setback

A popular entertainment retailer has entered administration and cancelled all outstanding orders and pre-orders.

The retailer, which became a go-to for collectors buying Blu-rays, DVDs and merchandise from franchises like Pokémon, LEGO and Star Wars, has been taken offline.

Visitors to Zavvi's website are now met with a notice confirming that the company has stopped trading, leaving customers who are still waiting for purchases wondering how they can get their money back.

The announcement was made by insolvency firm BDO LLP, which confirmed that Chris Skey and Kerry Bailey had been appointed joint administrators of ZavviGroup Ltd on 12 October 2026.

According to the notice, Zavvi stopped trading “with immediate effect” because of its financial position.

Customers have also been warned that no outstanding orders can be fulfilled and that returns are no longer being accepted.

Anyone who paid for an order that never arrived has been advised to contact their bank, card issuer or payment provider as soon as possible.

Depending on how they paid, customers may be able to request a chargeback, make a claim under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 or use another buyer-protection scheme.

Administrators reveal how customers can submit claims

The administrators have acknowledged that people who are still waiting for their purchases will be concerned about losing their money.

A dedicated email address has been set up for customer enquiries: Zavvigroupltd@bdo.co.uk.

Anyone who emails the address will receive an automatic response containing a FAQ document explaining the situation and how to submit a claim as part of the administration process.

However, customers shouldn't expect a personal response to every question. BDO said the number of people affected means it “will not ordinarily be able to provide individual responses” to queries that are already covered in the FAQ.

Customers have therefore been asked to read the information in the automatic reply carefully before sending any further emails.

Further updates will be published on the website if more information becomes available.
