The famed director is beloved among film fans, with The Nightmare Before Christmas being one of the fan favourites.
With it set to turn 30 years old this month, it's no surprise that fans are still wondering if a sequel is on the way.
However, Burton has now broken his silence on whether viewers should expect a second instalment of the story.
Speaking to Empire, he said: “To me the movie is very important.
“I’ve done sequels, I’ve done other things, I’ve done reboots, I’ve done all that s**t, right? I don’t want that to happen to this.
“It’s nice that people are maybe interested [in a second movie], but I’m not. I feel like that old guy who owns a little piece of property and won’t sell to the big power-plant that wants to take my land.”
He added that the film's lead character Jack is very important to him.
“Those are the kinds of things that I love, whether it’s [Edward] Scissorhands or Batman, characters that have that,” he said.
“It represented all those feelings that I had. I was perceived as this dark character, when I didn’t feel that way. So it was a very personal character.”
