Police described the incident as ‘serious and distressing’

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after three children were seriously injured in a stabbing in Huddersfield.

Two boys and a girl were found with serious injures at a house in Walpole Road in the West Yorkshire, after the ambulance service called police to the address at 8.02am on Monday.

The injuries are believed to have been caused by a bladed weapon, police said.

The children were taken to hospital where they are continuing to be treated.

A woman was also taken to hospital with serious injuries.

DCI Sam Freeman of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team (HMET) described the incident as “serious and distressing” and said police are still determining what happened.

“Detectives are conducting enquiries to determine the exact circumstances of what has taken place and an arrest has now been made as part of those investigations,” he said in a statement.

Chief Inspector Rebecca Calpin, of Kirklees Police, added: “Reassurance patrols are taking place in the local area by officers from the Huddersfield neighbourhood policing team and will be continuing throughout the day as Kirklees officers work to support colleagues from HMET.”
