Beats’ Prodigy-inspired Euro 2016 advert is some spine-tingling stuff

Kane, Griezmann, Götze and Fabregas step up.

Is it a bit naff we get excited by an advert? Hopefully not when they’re this good.

The folks at Beats have been cracking out some quality videos as of late, offering artistic glimpse at what is going through the heads of sportspeople who don the massive headphones before big games.

Their latest effort is suitably Euro 2016-themed, as football stars Harry Kane, Antoine Griezmann, Mario Götze and Cesc Fabregas all pop up for a cool video that riffs off the song “Firestarter” by The Prodigy.

Back in the day, Firestarter’s video was deemed too violent to be shown to children and was banned from Top Of The Pops. Some channels refused to show it, even after the watershed.

While the new Beats clip isn’t anywhere near as terrifying as the new classic music video, it’s just as spine-tingling. A fitting tribute to what is sure to be a staple of many a pre-game, pre-gym and pre-night out playlist.

But if you want to know something that’s just as scary as the original “Firestarter” video, how about this fact: there are players going to Euro 2016 that weren’t even born when it was released. Including Marcus Rashford.

Feeling old yet? Calm down, watch that lovely video again and get yourself ready for Friday when Euro 2016 starts.
