A no deal Brexit will happen if nothing is agreed before 29 March
Theresa May’s cabinet have met on Tuesday morning to ramp up plans for a no deal withdrawal from the European Union.
According to Sky News, senior ministers have gathered in Downing Street to plot what the government will do if the prime minister fails to get her Brexit deal passed in parliament.
A further £2 billion will soon be allocated to prepare Britain for an exit of World Trade Organisation terms, Downing Street has also confirmed.
If nothing is agreed before 29 March then a no deal Brexit will be triggered.
The meeting of top ministers comes after Theresa May told parliament on Monday that it will vote on her deal in the New Year after it was postponed last week in order for the prime minister to hold further negotiations in Brussels.

She added that the EU had made it clear the Irish backstop was “not a plot to trap the UK” and urged MPs to pass the agreement into law.
She said: “I can confirm we will return to the meaningful vote debate in the week beginning 7 January and hold the vote the following week. Avoiding ‘no deal’ is only possible if we can reach an agreement or if we abandon Brexit entirely.”
Responding, Jeremy Corbyn said that he was tabling a no confidence motion in the PM’s leadership.
However, such a vote would not trigger a general election and now looks unlikely to take place before the parliamentary Christmas recess begins on Thursday.
