Homenews

The Daily Mail causing controversy isn't really a news story as much as it is an everyday occurrence.

But even so, a columnist's decision to use inverted commas when describing Stephen Fry's husband, Elliott Spencer, has quite rightly been condemned by the internet. The Mail's article about the couple, who married last year, bafflingly labelled 28-year-old Spencer as Fry's 'husband'. The error was pointed out by BBC Radio 5 Live presenter Nicky Campbell on Twitter. https://twitter.com/NickyAACampbell/status/705290977418878976 Campbell's tweet was followed by an onslaught of disgruntled replies, many of which had their own ideas about the appropriate use of inverted commas. https://twitter.com/nakedvix/status/705291248115044353 https://twitter.com/duncanm/status/705318832475398144 https://twitter.com/deanleigh/status/705291952699400192 https://twitter.com/DickGraceless/status/705291663263059968 https://twitter.com/TheoryFail/status/705385926579634176 https://twitter.com/_Gary_UK/status/705294894252875778 That's the last time that one gets past the sub.
