Temperatures could hit 36C today with weather warnings in place across the country.
A forecaster for the Met Office has said weather in the UK is set for a 'three-way split' today.
Alex Burkill said conditions would be largely divided between scorching heat in parts of the south, with scattered showers in the South West, Wales and northern England. He further forecasted largely dry conditions in northwest Scotland and Northern Ireland.
However, in the southeast he has predicted that temperatures may soar to 36C.
Whew!
"Towards the South East, many places high 20s, low 30s, but there's potential that we could be looking at around 34, 35, maybe even 36C tomorrow," he said.
Elsewhere, he said there could be a bit of cloud, with the chance of 'one or two showers developing' in parts of Wales and northern England.
