Alexandria Vera is a Texan teacher who has gone on the run after getting pregnant as a result of a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old student.

The relationship lasted from September 2015 to the end of January 2016, and 24-year-old Vera told police she initially resisted the advances of the student.

The Independent report that police want to charge Vera with the felony of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child which carries a minimum sentence of 25 years in the state of Texas.

The relationship was discovered when Vera was confronted by the principal of the school, but told her that the boy’s parents were “accepting of the relationship”.

The family was also informed of the pregnancy in January and Vera had said they had been supportive.

The boy first asked for her details on Instagram but she refused, only to contact him on the app to remind him of an assignment that was due when he didn’t show up to school.

Child protection services had previously visited the school and Vera had denied the relationship. According to KPRC, Vera procured an abortion and has fled her home. She is being pursued by police.
