Sweden is making some drastic changes to the work day

Especially at this time of year, the eight-hour working day can feel like a bit of a drag to us Brits.

However, up in Sweden, things are different. Employers in the Scandinavian nation are making drastic changes to the working day that will leave many of us hoping our bosses will follow suit. According to the Science Alert website, many companies across the country have decided to shave two hours off the working day, reducing it to just six hours. The switch to a six hour day was made by Toyota centres in Sweden's second largest city, Gothenburg, over a decade ago. The company soon reported happier staff, an increase in profits and a lower turnover during that time. With the introduction of a six-hour day also said to improve productivity and allow employees more time to enjoy their private lives, more companies are expected to do the same. We're keeping our fingers crossed that it catches on over here very soon.
