Jacobson starred The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine

American actress Jill Jacobson, best known for her roles in Falcon Crest, The New Gidget and two Star Trek shows, has passed away at the age of 70.

Jacobson died December 8 at Cedars-Sinai’s Culver West Health Center following a long illness, her friend Dan Harary told The Hollywood Reporter.

“She will be deeply missed by numerous relatives, friends and her beloved dogs, Benny and Kowalski,” Harary told the outlet.

The actress got her big break as private detective Erin Jones in 22 episodes of CBS primetime soap Falcon Crest, and also played Larue Wilson on US sitcom The New Gidget.

She would later go on to star as Vanessa in 1989's Star Trek: The Next Generation before playing the role of Chalan Aroya in the fourth season of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine in 1996.

Her other TV credits included Hung, Newhart, Castle, Who’s the Boss?, Quantum Leap, Crazy Like a Fox, Arliss and Murphy Brown and a minor part in Ron Howard’s 1984 film, Splash.

More recently, Jacobson was a regular at The Improv and The Comedy Store in Los Angeles where she performed stand-up comedy for years.
