St Enoch Centre in Glasgow was the scene of a gang attack on Friday that left a 19 year-old bleeding from a head wound, as police review CCTV footage.
The group is seen knocking the teenager to the ground to then punching and kicking him repeatedly as he tried to get back up, according to BBC News.
Social media video of the assault showed the 19-year-old wearing a medical boot and using a crutch at the time.
The gang also pushed a second shopper to the floor, but security staff stepped in before the attackers could hurt anyone else.
The attackers fled before officers arrived, leaving the teenager bleeding from a head wound. Shoppers and security staff helped him until paramedics took him to hospital.
The shopping centre sits inside Glasgow city centre's dispersal zone.
Police Scotland introduced the crackdown in March, and it lets officers order groups of two or more to leave an area if their behaviour threatens public safety.
Anyone made to leave can be banned from the area for up to 24 hours. Police Scotland extended the powers until December just days before Friday's attack.
A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed detectives are working through CCTV footage to trace those responsible.
"An investigation is under way after police received a report of a disturbance involving a number of males in the St Enoch Centre, Glasgow," they said.
"A 19-year-old male was taken to hospital. Officers have been reviewing CCTV images and enquiries are ongoing to locate and identify those involved. Police are following a positive line of inquiry."
