Snow lands in UK as 10cm expected to fall today in weather warning

Snow is falling, all around us

Okay, well maybe not all around us, but snow has fallen in Cornwall and Edinburgh and it’s thought that more will fall.

The Mayor of London has already launched an emergency weather warning as the countries capital braces itself to freeze over the next few days.

A yellow alert for snow and ice is also in place across much of the UK as people in Yorkshire, Scotland, and Dorset have woke up to especially wintery scenes.

The Met Office have issued a weather warning for other large areas of the country due to plummeting temperatures creating hazardous conditions and travel disruptions.

They’ve also warned of icy patches on paths and roads with up to 10cm of snow expected to fall in hilly areas.

The forecaster said: “Showers, wintry in places, will continue to affect northern and eastern Scotland and eastern England through Thursday evening and overnight into Friday morning.”

Temperatures are expected to drop well below freezing overnight and more than 30 schools in Cornwall have been closed due to the hazardous conditions.

Earlier this week, the Met Office issued another warning about a deep-freeze hitting the UK.

After hitting on November 29, the Met Office says that the cold will stick around until December 11.
