The teenage son of leading jumps trainer Henry De Bromhead has passed away after a pony riding accident on Rossbeigh Beach in Kerry. The second day of the Glenbeigh Festival, due to take place on Sunday, has been cancelled as a result.
The incident happened during the fifth race on the card and though emergency services were on hand at the scene, nothing could be done. The young jockey passed away shortly afterwards.
Jack De Bromhead was a promising young rider, who regularly rode out for his father in their Knockeen stables in Waterford, and he had rode a winner at the Cahirciveen Races just last weekend.
He was 13 years of age.
