Scottish DJ Jackmaster dies in Ibiza aged 38

His family have said they are 'utterly heartbroken'

The Glasgow DJ and music producer had suffered an accidental heady injury on the island.

His family confirmed on he had passed away on Saturday morning following "complications arising" from the injury.

They said they were "utterly heartbroken" by his death.

Revill had played at some of the biggest clubs and festivals across the globe and co-founded the Numbers record label.

The statement from his family said: "It is with profound sorrow that we confirm the untimely passing of Jack Revill, known to many as Jackmaster.

"Jack tragically died in Ibiza on the morning of October 12, following complications arising from an accidental head injury.

"His family - Kate, Sean and Johnny - are utterly heartbroken.

"While deeply touched by the overwhelming support from friends, colleagues, and fans, the family kindly requests privacy as they navigate the immense grief of this devastating loss.

“Jack’s passion for music and his relentless drive to push creative boundaries through his work at the Numbers label and Rubadub Records in Glasgow, including discovering countless innovative artists, made him a beloved and pioneering figure in the electronic music community both in front of and behind the scenes.

“His talent for blending genres and delivering electrifying DJs sets and productions earned him the respect and admiration of peers and fans across the globe. His legacy will continue to inspire, and his impact on the world of dance music will remain indelible.”

Tributes have poured in from across the world of music, with English dance duo Disclosure commenting on the post: “Can’t believe this. Heart broken. Thank you for all the amazing memories & inspiration Jack. This is just awful awful awful.”

Fellow Scottish DJ Ewan McVicar wrote: “The very best to ever do it & the reason i started all this. thanks for inspiring a generation with quality. rest in peace.”

And dance music duo Gorgon City added: “We’re so sorry. love and condolences.”

Born in Glasgow, Revill worked at well-known record shop Rubadub in Glasgow, before becoming a regular at techno party Monox aged 17. He was awarded Breakthrough DJ at DJ Magazine‘s Best Of British Awards in 2010.

He went on to become the co-founder of the record label Numbers, and had recently released the single Nitro, featuring Kid Enigma.

Speaking to Electronic Groove magazine about the song he said: "It was about feeling hyped and inspired in the club.

"Sadly, those moments are rare now. Blame the phones and people who don't dance, I think.

"I am so grateful for my fans, but I got into music because I love dancing. It's a lost artform at the moment, I think".
